The 5 All-time Most Expensive Hamburgers In The World

Must Try

Would you pay $5k for a hamburger?  We happen to know that there are more than five people in the world who would pay that for a beef patty between bread, so it’s not surprising that there have been in fact at least five really, really, really, stupidly expensive hamburgers reported to make those big burger-spenders happy.

Due to COVID, most of these burgers are not currently available to satisfy an expensive beef-tooth, but you can use this time to bookmark this story for your burger bucket list and get to them when these locations open again. Here are the five legendary most expensive hamburgers in the world.

1 The Fleur Burger 5000

Located at Fleur restaurant (currently closed) inside the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas, the Fleur burger is $5k! While the rest of the menu is Vegas-mortal, this $5k burger stands out. What packs the price? Wagyu beef, foie gras, truffle, along with a bottle of ‘95 Chateau Petrus.

2 – Le Burger Extravagant

This $295 burger from Serendipity 3 holds the distinction of being in the Guinness Book of World Records. This high-titled burger is 10 ounces of Wagyu beef (seeing a pattern here) with white truffle butter, seasoned with smoked sea salt, and topped with Montgomery cheddar cheese, shaved black truffles, and a fried quail egg. The white truffle buttered Campagna roll is flecked with 24k gold and topped with a blini creme fraiche and Kaluga caviar held together with a diamond-encrusted gold toothpick.

3 – The University of Maastricht Lab Burger

This burger was developed in a lab at the University of Maastricht in London by vascular biologist Mark Post. The cultured beef meat was grown in a petri dish as part of an experiment to one day be a true alternative to livestock. The U.S. Chicago-based food writer Josh Schonwald reported to NBC that “it wasn’t unpleasant.” Hmmmm…are we really ready for test-tube meat? Well, there is an upside: the artificial meat would eliminate the need to raise and slaughter cows. The cost of this experiment? A whopping $375,000!

4 – DB Royal Double Truffle Burger

Available at DB Bistro Moderne in New York (currently closed), the $140 burger is a ground sirloin prime rib stuffed with foie gras, wine-braised short ribs, veggies, and black truffle with extra layers of black truffles on top.  PS: truffle is only available in the thick of winter so earmark this for your winter 2021 celebration when hopefully we are all vaccinated.

5 – The Royal Dubai Burger

And we save the most expensive for last. Someone threw down $10k for a burger at a breast cancer charity auction in Dubai simply because a member of the Qatar royal family assisted in creating the meat masterpiece. According to CNN, it was piled high with seven beef patties (one for each emirate), aged cheddar cheese, and veal bacon strips in a saffron brioche bun. It was served to the highest bidder with a milkshake.
