Degrees, the nontouristy bar in the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown Hotel, is a civilized hideaway to caucus with a pal or pol. It’s also hot in its own way: You are sitting atop a former city incinerator, which explains the brick and granite motif and tall ceilings. Friendly barkeep John Peak’s house drink is the cooling Fahrenheit 5, a tropical blend of Grand Marnier Malibu Rum, pineapple, and other juices. The crowd is a sophisticated blend of lawyers, lobbyists, businessmen and women, and international heavyweights who bunk at the hotel.
