Like D.C. itself, Firefly manages to combine Southern hospitality with Northeas tern urbanity. Birch branches decorate the walls and a lantern-festooned tree dominates the trendy restaurant’s center, but the energetic bar crowd diffuses any rustic atmosphere. Some appetizers and side dishes are very down-home–shrimp and grits, deviled eggs, macaroni and cheese–but entrees, like seared scallops with bacon-glazed fingerling potatoes and pan roasted grouper over braised fennel, will please even the most demanding city sophisticate.
