AllPuck.com wouldn’t exist without the seven minutes, 55 seconds of film you’re about to watch.
On October 4, 1991, the San Jose Sharks played the Vancouver Canucks, as common an autumn sight today as brown leaves covering a city sidewalk. (In a non-lockout year, at least.)
At the time, this game was a total novelty. San Jose had never played a regular-season game in its history and, back then, most people couldn’t even locate the city on a map.
Teal uniforms weren’t cool, but that was soon to change. The NHL had just one California-based team, soon to become two, then three.
Then this game happened.
Brian Hayward’s shark-tooth mask happened (at the 1:40 mark).
