Inside Story

Guests who book a minimum two-night stay at one of 13 San Francisco hotels have the option of a two-to-three hour informal insider’s orientation through the Golden Gate Greeter service. Guides are certified local residents, eager to show off their neighborhood to groups of six or less. Just remember to bring your walking shoes–no cars or vans are used to traverse the city’s famous hills. The service is available to travelers staying at the Adagio, Carlton, Del Sol, Drisco, Galleria Park, Hotel Tomo, Kabuki, Laurel Inn, Petite Auberge, Phoenix, Rex, Vitale, or the White Swan Inn. Find the “Golden Gate Greeter” link on each hotel page through Joie de Vivre’s Web site, and plan to book a week in advance.
