The New Children’s Museum, which opened in May 2008, will forever deserve its “new” label because of its constant ingenuity. With a slew of hands-on exhibits, the facility encourages youngsters to create their own art in various types of media, including such green materials as found objects and reclaimed wood. A big plus: Local contemporary artists are on hand to guide future Picassos. Hot tip: Admission is free the second Sunday of every month.
