In the mood for some celebrity stargazing, albeit posthumously? Look down. The beauty of Montparnasse, Montmartre and Père Lachaise is that there are plenty of famous names in arguably the three most famous cemeteries on the planet. Père Lachaise is the resting place of such international icons as Oscar Wilde, Doors frontman Jim Morrison and chanteuse Edith Piaf. Over in Montparnasse, you’ll find the graves of noted writers like Jean-Paul Satre and Susan Sontag, while the artist Degas is interred in Montmartre alongside many others. All three resting places are free to visit.
