Dessert should come first at inside the historic, 260-year-old La Société — specifically, the memorable crackers cheesecake. Warning beforehand, however: you may need some help finding this trendy, see-and-be-seen restaurant, given the lack of a sign on its massive, 19th-century oak door. The long, narrow eatery is simply done in warm tones (chocolates, grays, beiges), accented by leather and mahogany furnishings, chunky sculpture, and a marble Champagne bar. Dishes with a Northern Italian twist on the modern international cuisine carte are anything but fussy. Best bet? Shrimp risotto paired with lobster and herb salad, eaten before, during, or after digging into that impossibly scrumptious crackers cheesecake.
