Touted as the world’s oldest restaurant (possibly a stretch, but it does date back to 1725), tourist favorite Casa Botin — with its four floors of traditional Spanish floor tiles, giant wooden beams, and ancient cast-iron ovens — is said to be the setting for the final scene of Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises. A good reason to go today: the boisterous, fun atmosphere and classic Spanish cuisine such as suckling pig and roast lamb. A bonus: Diners are given a souvenir skeleton key to remind them to return for another round.
