‘Lost’ Opportunities

Attention Lost fans: Papa’iloa Beach serves as the main survivor camp on the ABC show as well as the Oceanic flight 815 crash site. Known locally as Police Beach, as state troopers have a lease on it for recreation, this North Shore spot can be accessed via the Hale’iwa Beach Park parking lot. Head over to the far right (north) side of the lot, walk past the wooden road barrier, and then follow the shoreline north. Although the beach is public property, the territory from the vegetation line inward is privately owned and guarded 24 hours a day, as noted by the abundant “No Trespassing” signs. Stay on the sand and you’ll be OK.
