Saturday, Feb. 22 is National Margarita Day, and in the darkness of what has become one of the longest and coldest winters in recent memory, we could all use a sweet and salty lift.
Head to Hecho en Dumbo (354 Bowery, 212-937-4245) for the Hecho en Dumbo signature margarita with 100% Agave Tequilla Herradura Blanco, freshly squeezed lime juice, Cointreau, and a dash of cane sugar, served on the rocks with a salted rim. $13.
Stanton Social (99 Stanton Street, 212-995-0099) gives the margarita a clever twist with the Blood Orange-Jalapeno Margarita. The ingredients include Jalapeno-infused Milagro Reposado, blood orange juice, fresh lime, and Cointreau. $13 and a little kick that you won’t soon forget.

The Original Margarita
2 oz. Blanco tequila
1 oz. Cointreau
1 oz. Lime juice
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and add ice
Shake and strain into a Margarita glass

Garnish with a lime wheel and salt
The Berry Margarita
1.5 oz. Tequila
1 oz. Cointreau
½ oz. Lime Juice
½ oz. Blackberries
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a sugar-rimmed rocks glass
Garnish: 2 blackberries on a silver toothpick
The Piña Margarita

2 oz. Tequila
1 oz. Cointreau
1 oz. Lime Juice
1 oz. Pineapple Juice
Muddle fresh pineapple in the bottom of a mixing glass
Add remaining ingredients with ice and shake
Strain over ice in a cinnamon-sugar rimmed rocks glass
Garnish: Cinnamon Sugar rim, Pineapple Wedge
