The landmark Sculler’s Jazz Club – top in its class, as decreed by Boston magazine – is not all about the view, but that’s one good reason to arrive at this 20-year mainstay before sunset for drinks outside the main stage before performance time. Providing vistas of the Charles and the city skyline, this favorite local music venue has seen contemporary greats (Harry Connick Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Dave Koz) and soon-to-be greats in jazz as well as blues, soul, R&B, and cabaret. Intimate despite its 200 seats, the room offers plenty of room to chill over dinner (a three-course seasonal meal, often featuring authentic New England clam chowder) while listening to some smooth sounds straight from the City on a Hill.
